Food Hero Program

Families that are eligible for food stamps could win a food makeover from a professional nutrition specialist and be part of an online video production. The new Food Hero program, being organized by the food stamp program, OSU Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Oregon Department of Human Services. The pilot program is being started in Josephine, Klamath, Lane and Marion counties. One family will be chosen atrandom from one of the four counties and will receive a food makeover. The deadline to sign up is Sept. 4. See www.foodhero.org for information. A video company will film the makeover and it will appear on the their Web site. The Food Hero Program's site also has nutrition information and will help you make a healthier grocery list,network online with others, or take part in challenges .
