Obama 2009 Stimulus
Well The Democrats approved a revised stimulus package for 787 billion dollars + interest down from the hyped trillion dollar pork freak show package, but don't get any ideas that the Democrats didn't pump this with all the pork they could jam in, then rush it to the floor for a fast vote . The stimulus includes 48 billion for roads and bridges about 5.5 billion dollars for Government buildings ,2 billion for programs such as ACORN ,and 8 billion dollars to build a high speed rail from Los Angeles to Las Vegas ,then there is 7.2 billion for internet , 2 billion for battery research for electric cars ,more than 30 million too protect mice that live in a salt marsh .All of this spending is meant to create millions of new jobs and ease the struggles of blue collar workers ,but little is known if it will actually help. There is plenty of money going to special interest groups and organizations ,what is in it for you and me? Obama and the Democrats want us to think that there is plenty ,a few examples >Make Work Pay Credit that will supposedly help 95% of American workers $400 dollars for individuals and $800 dollars for couples , down from Obama's promised $500.00 and $1,000 dollar credit in His campaign . Then there is 46 billion for schools to hopefully prevent teacher layoffs, and maybe it will help budget shortfalls . Billions for Medicaid spending that hopefully will reach the disabled and seniors who really need it, and not just the greedy looking for handouts. There is a $7,500 dollar credit for families looking to purchase their first home, which is less than the proposed $15,000 dollar credit that was in a earlier version of the stimulus . The first $2,400 of unemployment benefits will be free from federal taxes. Then the Pell Grant is expanded to $5,350 for( low income) college students who are struggling to pay for college and the American Opportunity Education Credit will replace the Hope Scholarship Credit and will be around $2,500 (for low income students). Mostly all of the special interest spending should have been cut from the plan so more money could have went to small businesses that actually create jobs. We will be paying off this debt for generations ,is it worth it? There is so much money for social spending and on programs that States should be fiscally responsible for ,but I guess that we should have seen this coming , Obama is only doing what he promised in his campaign.
