Tougher fines for polluters in Oregon, a bill that passed the state Senate on Monday . Senate bill 105 passed 16 to 13- it is now of to the House. The $10,000 per day fine was established in 1973 and hasn't been raised since then ,the fine now will be $25,000 per day. The bill also would increase the maximum penalty for negligently or intentionally spilling oil or hazardous materials into state waterways from $20,000 to $100,000. Find PDF here> Senate Bill 105
