Butt Bill

Oregon House Bill 2676 will make it illegal for anyone to knowingly toss a cigarette butt or cigar
or unlawfully litter on a city property unclear if it includes private property.
The penalty could be a fine or, perhaps community service that might include clearing a property of cigarettes butts, cigars and filters .Oregon already has a law against offensive littering .Deb Schallert and Oregon Rep. Carolyn Tomei, D-Milwaukie are behind the bill . Deb Schallert has tried three times in the past five years to get a cigarette butt bill. Oregon's House environment and water committee has scheduled a hearing on Tuesday, April ,14th 2009.
