New Gun Bills And Regulations

Governor Butch Otter (R) Idaho recently signed two new gun bills, Recently Idaho's Governor signed House Bill 229, will expand on the current "Emergency Powers" bill to prohibit any additional restrictions on the lawful possession, transfer or sale, display or use of firearms or ammunition during a state of emergency this also covers storage and transporting of firearms and ammo . The second bill signed by Idaho's Governor,is Senate Bill 1145, will ensure that records of Right-to-Carry permits issued to retired law enforcement officials are kept confidential. Not yet signed by the Governor is House Bill 287, If signed, this bill would remove an Employer's liability for any accident related to a lawfully-stored firearm, if the employer adopts a policy allowing its employees to keep firearms locked in their vehicles while parked on company property.
Also in Idaho >The Emmett Ranger District and, the Bull Creek and Silver Creek trails ( Boise National Forest) management plan that will designate what roads and trails will be opened in the future to vehicles and ATVs (and HUNTER'S). The Ranger District is openI to public comment, they will be using the information they gain in the decision making process. What roads and trails remain open or closed will affect hunters' access to these lands so I urge you to get involved if you are a hunter and would like your opinion heard .

Senate Bill 585 was voted into the suspense file by the Senate Appropriations Committee.


Oregon > The Oregon House has overwhelmingly approved House Bill 2727-A which will limit the public release of information about concealed handgun license holders. The Bill was approved Monday,May,04,2009 by a overwhelming 54-4 the bill now goes to the Senate.

Under the bill, concealed gun license information would be exempt from disclosure under Oregon's open records law unless someone can make a compelling case that the public interest would be served by opening it. Local sheriffs would decide on a case-by-case basis, some sheriffs are already refusing to issue the information. Links To Gun Bills in Red
