Debate Party Ideas: Party On A Budget

Part two in my debate party idea posts. This one covers affordable florals, decorations, some printables and such. I tried to include pictures when available so that you could get a better understanding of what I was thinking. PS don't forget to encourage your friends and family to register to vote.

Here are some ideas for florals, you do not need to keep the same colors you could do a spiral with red, white and blue, dye them purple, or even use different flowers. We have successfully done the floral balls on several occasions because they last.

You obviously don't need to make these in green. This is just a demonstration of how to assemble. I know that I am not the only one who learns visually. These balls are also very-very inexpensive to make!

Check out Food network or Ina Garten "Barefoot Contessa" for a great flag cake recipe.

Check out your local Dollar Tree or Dollar store for great plates and party goods in solid colors, red, blue, or purple.

Oriental trading has a huge selection of paper lanterns. They also have affordable shipping. If you are in a rush check your local wedding stores. It never hurts to shop local!

Amanda Jane Jones shared some printables on Martha Stewart's site. I think the Red_White_Blue and Made In The USA ones are cute and patriotic.

There are so many goodies over at Martha too mention. So I made a link to the 4th of July crafts. Keep in mind that a patriotic red white and blue theme with flags and such really gets people in the mood for a debate.

I found this recipe that has already been tried at Martha Stewart Website. It comes from the Gals at Georgetown Cupcake. I have heard they are very tasty. If you have "Gluten Free" friends I suggest you use a great recipe from "Gluten Free Goddess" and just decorate the same. "PS The 'Gluten Free' cupcake mixes from Betty Crocker taste amazing, so don't feel bad using a mix.

Here are some links for debate judging forms.
Debate Judging Form and Debate Scoring Sheet. Both are from education sites so they cover the basics like, affirmative and negative arguments and ideas. The second form has more detailed questions.
